Description
The CIC is supported by both INSERM (National Institution for Health Care and Medical Research) and Nancy University hospital. With its staff specifically dedicated to clinical research, it acts as an interface between basic research and completed medical research, and its purpose is to produce new scientific and medical knowledge in compliance with ethical and legal standards.
The CIC objectives are :
- To provide logistical and technical support for the design and implementation of research projects in any clinical topic.
- To develop clinical research in any medical specialty within the community of University Hospitals and research laboratories, and in particular within INSERM, as well as with general hospitals and health care facilities and private practice investigators
- To train physicians, pharmacists and paramedics in clinical research, the use of good clinical practices and quality control.
The CIC provides support throughout each entire project, from the preparatory stage to termination and follow-up, which includes:
- methodological counselling for the design and formalisation of the protocols
- technical assistance in regulatory procedures such as: requests for promotion, consultation of the Advisory Committee for the protection of persons taking part in bio- medical research (CPP), and matters concerning the French National Commission for privacy Data Protection and Rights (CNIL), as well as enrolment of patients/healthy volunteers, both healthy and ailing, technical and/or logistical support for the drafting of protocols, provision of a mobile medical and technical research team for activities outside the centre...
- assistance in data collection and management and/or the analysis of results
- assistance in financial matters affecting specific projects
We are coordinating a national academic research cardiovascular network and are involved in several international collaborations and research networks.
